When I first started my business almost two years ago, I read a great book by Lewis Howes, “The School of Greatness.” I loved it. He talked about how you should make your bed every morning, how you should stay physically fit, and how you should get up early every day to be successful in your business.
I already do all of that, so I figured I was good to go. I was so excited!
In this book, Howes interviews different successful people and talks about what they did to become successful. In one chapter, he suggested that you ask a few different people what they saw as your biggest weaknesses and strengths that would help you succeed as an entrepreneur.
(Let me tell you I don’t really suggest this activity unless you are REALLY secure with yourself.)
There was one common weakness that each person who gave me a weakness mentioned. They all said it differently and with fancy and kind words, but they all thought I was too lazy to run a business.
I probably don’t have to tell you that this bothered me for months, and maybe even today almost two years later.
My inner dialogue goes a little something like this: I am NOT lazy. I work hard every day. I am responsible for another human being. I can organize the shit out of anything. I can get up earlier and go to bed later than anyone if I put my mind to it and work and work and work.
But the other day I started thinking about it because I was talking to my business coach about rebate apps and how to get my webinar on how to use them in the hands of the people who want to learn. She suggested that my marketing campaign focus on the premise of, “If you are lazy AF and want to earn money, sign up here!”
I laughed and laughed. The more I thought about it, the more it made me think about my perceived laziness.
Hey, when it comes down to it, unless you live with somebody or the things they do or don’t do affect you personally, nobody actually cares if you are lazy or not. People saying that to me may have been trying to protect me from the stress and overwhelm of creating a business. Who knows. And honestly, who cares.
Because all that really matters is this – ARE YOU LAZY AF AND LIKE TO EARN MONEY?
If you are – join me on my webinar. I’ll teach you everything you need to know!
